Our Curriculum

Learning through play

Playing allows children to learn. As they explore, take risks, use their imaginations, and solve problems while playing, they build vital skills that help them develop socially, physically, and cognitively.

🧭

Self-Direction

The child has complete control over what and how they play. Adults supervise and may suggest, but the child leads.

🔍

Unstructured Exploration

Children are free to explore and choose activities based on their own preferences, from a variety of choices.

😄

Fun

Play should be pleasurable. Children are never forced into an activity — enjoying it is what matters.

🌀

Process-Oriented

The process is what matters, not a perfect result or a fixed end goal.

What we look for in every room

Every classroom looks a little different, but high-quality environments share the same standards:

🕊️ Soothing environment — calm lighting, uncluttered spaces

🗺️ Defined areas — separate zones for sleeping, playing, eating, and changing

🤸 Secure open spaces — firm surfaces for movement and exploring

🏠 Personal touches — familiar objects and photos from home

🧩 Simple, interesting materials — open-ended toys in varied sizes and textures

🪑 Child-size furniture — sturdy, safe, and the right scale for little ones

🧗 Small physical challenges — safe ways to climb, balance and test new skills

Mealtimes

Meals & nutrition

Meals are cooked fresh at the centre each day — a balanced plate of rice, a protein and a vegetable, with fresh fruit every day. Everything is served in child-sized portions on divided plates.

Where is My Little House Play School located?

We are at No. 40, Grand Height, Jalan Johari Sunam, 97000 Bintulu, Sarawak, Malaysia.

We are open Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm, and Saturday from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

What is the teacher-to-child ratio for infants?

Our infant room runs at one teacher to every three babies.

Do you offer a programme for children with additional needs?

Yes. Our inclusive programme provides early-intervention activities for children with needs such as mild autism or speech delay. It is not a therapy service and we do not guarantee specific outcomes; suitability is discussed with each family individually.

What kind of curriculum do you follow?

A play-based curriculum built on four ideas: self-direction, unstructured exploration, fun, and a focus on the process rather than the product.

What meals do you provide?

Meals are cooked fresh at the centre each day — a balanced plate of rice with a protein and a vegetable, plus fresh fruit every day, served in child-sized portions on divided plates. Tell Ms Siti about any food allergy or dietary requirement when you enquire and she'll talk you through what's possible.

Monthly fees are RM 595–650 for full-day care and RM 400–450 for half-day, with a lower rate for children over 2.
